Barista Profile – Adel

Not only is Adel OQ’s most prominent barista, she is the one responsible for the cafe’s ambiance. Everything from selecting art and music to keeping plants alive.

Adel relocated to New Jersey from Indiana for an AmeriCorps commitment. She loves being in and around Highland Park because the residents are socially involved in their community and it’s important to them to be conscious of happenings in their community. Being an artist, she is especially appreciative that so many here are involved in the arts in a variety of aspects.

The secret to Latte Art is how you steam the milk.

Adel’s favorite drink to make is the Caffe Latte because it incorporates art into the presentation. Naturally, her favorite to drink is the Mocha, because it combines the two best consumables, coffee and chocolate.

Her favorite Highland Park eatery is Highland Pizza. There are a few different slices she likes, but generally what looks freshest and is layered in veggies. Her music of choice are bands like “The National” for the introspective mood they induce.

Latte Art takes practice. More and more practice.

If she had an unlimited supply of Legos, she would build a tree house. That is to say, a tree that you can live in…or a house that looks like a tree, as it were.
